Registration is Now Open for the 2016 Mother's Day Race for the Cure on Sunday, May 8th!

Mother's DayHelp run breast cancer out of town at the 19th annual Mother's Day Race for the Cure! Registration is now open, so take advantage of the early-bird rates and save $5!

The Race will be held on Sunday, May 8th, 2016, in downtown Chicago. Sign up for the 10K Run, 5K Run/Walk or 1 Mile Fun Walk -- it's an amazing morning you won't want to miss! Register here.

Shamrock Shuffle LogoThe Bank of America Shamrock Shuffle 8K (4.97 mile) run will be held on Sunday, April 3, 2016. Register now to run with Team Komen and be a part of the fight against breast cancer! 4.97 can mean more than miles ran, it can mean lives saved.

Get Involved With Komen -- Attend the Volunteer Orientation on Saturday, January 16th to Learn How!

You will also receive training on how to be a Pink Ambassador for Komen Chicago so you can serve as a Komen representative at local events, as well as learn about all of the amazing volunteer opportunities you can enjoy! This is a fun and engaging orientation, so don't miss it!

Xilin Association Provides Education, Screenings in Cook, DuPage and Will Counties

Xilin Association

With the help of Komen Chicago grants, Xilin Associations' Breast Cancer Prevention for Asian Women program provides breast health education for 600 individuals, as well as 300 mammograms annually. In addition, Xilin also ensures that individuals have access to translation and transportation services when receiving their regular screenings.

Project Director June Yang highlights the importance of continuing breast health education for Xilin's clients. "We call all of our clients annually to remind them to get their mammograms, and stress the importance of breast health." 

June and her staff organize workshops and attend health fairs throughout the year at local churches, food pantries and community centers, to teach breast cancer awareness. For more information, call 630-355-4322 or visit xilin.org.

A woman who has one first-degree female relative with breast cancer has almost twice the risk of a woman without a family history of breast cancer.  When talking about family history, it’s important to consider both sides of your family- don’t forget the men in your family too!
