Fall Volunteering Highlights!
Thank you so much to all the volunteers that helped us these last 2 months! Particularly with the Health Fairs, Speaker Requests and events! Here's just a glimpse of how volunteers contributed to a successful Lombard Race for the Cure and Breast Cancer Awareness Month!
The Chicago 3-Day Volunteers were in full Komen spirit and cheered on the 3-Day walkers on Day 2 of their 60 mile walk! Buffalo Grove High School Cheer Team was a popular group to take photos with!
Lombard Race for the Cure (September) Over 350 volunteers helped make our 4th Annual Lombard Race for the Cure a success! Below are pictures of just a few of the many dedicated supporters! Including committee members, I AM THE CURE cheerleaders, Toyota and Gap volunteers at Packet Pick-Up and many more!
Chicago Marathon - Komen Chicago Cheer Zone (October) Thanks to the DePaul Spirit Team for coming out in all PINK and cheering on all the Chicago Marathon runners!

Research Grants Around the World
As you know, 75% of Komen Chicago's net proceeds stay in our metropolitan area, while 25% supports the Susan G. Komen Global Research and Grants Program.
So where exactly is that 25% going?
Energizing science to find the cures is a critical part of our promise. That is why we fund research grants all around the world; 48 states and 19 different countries to be exact! Susan G. Komen is the largest non-profit funder of breast cancer research, outside of the US federal government. Check out the Research World Map to get more details on where the grants are going!
Does Illinois benefit from research grants?
Yes! Illinois currently has 23 active research grants totalling $6.9M! Since 1982, IL has had 74 total grants with a total funding of $17M!
